Yet Jerusalem says, “the Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.” Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palm of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins. Soon your decedents will come back, and all who are trying to destroy you will go away. Isaiah 49:14-17

This has always been one of my favorite verses in the Bible because God reminded us of something I think we often forget. The people of Jerusalem felt as if God had forgotten and abandoned them. The Lord then reminds the people of Jerusalem that he could never forget them and they should never doubt that he would fulfill his promises.

At times I think we all feel a little bit like the people of Jerusalem. We sometimes feel lost and God feels far away. But it is important to remember that God could never forget about us and he is constantly working in us to fulfill his plan for our lives.

I was a gymnast for most of my life. I trained many long hours and spent most of my time at the gym. Once while learning a new tumbling pass for my floor routine, I remember praying that God would keep me safe while I learned this new and dangerous skill. I had been successfully landing my pass feeling pretty good, when suddenly I landed a little bit off and my ACL ripped in half. I sat on the ground in pain feeling forgotten with unanswered prayers. Little did I know that even through the pain of a torn ACL, God was working in my life in ways I could not imagine. After my gymnastics chapter was closed, I was able to more clearly see what God had in store for me. I could see his plans for my life were much greater than the plans I had made for myself.

I challenge you this week to remember that God is constantly working in your life and to seek him in everything you do!
