My Story of Healing - Scott Peters

I love this church. I love this place we call First Christian Church of Edmond.  Last spring I was faced with health issues that threatened my life.  Yes, this is a story of healing, but it’s also a story of love expressed by many.  As I prepared to write this story, I dug out the stack of cards I received leading up to and after my open-heart surgery.  I saved each and every one of them.  As I read through the countless cards, tears filled my eyes.  Please know these cards mean as much to me today as the day I received them - cards expressing love, support, encouragement, prayers of thanksgiving, comfort, peace and healing.  I received countless flowers and plants, which brightened our home during my recovery process, and a custom made pillow signed by Sunday school classmates and friends from around the church.    Your prayers and notes of encouragement accelerated my recovery process.

I am so honored to be one of your Elders.  I love being a part of the Tuesday morning Elder Prayer Meeting.  It gives me a chance to write note cards expressing my love and support for our congregation and their family and friends.  I know what it means to be on the receiving end of these cards.  I can’t begin to tell you how blessed my family is to be a part of this church community.  Amy and I are so grateful for what this body of Christ has brought to our daughter Alex.  I know this foundation of faith will carry us through life’s most difficult situations.  I encourage you to pray for one another - “let your request be made know to God” – Phil 4:6

"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." - Philippians 4:6 NRSV

Reflection Question:
How do you experience the living Body of Christ?

Prayer:
Hearer of our Prayers,
Encourage us to trust you.
Teach us to support each other.
And in all things, help us to show Christ love.
Amen.
