"Even when I walk through a valley of deep darkness, I will not be afraid, because you are with me." - Psalms 23:4
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" - Psalms 27:1
Most of the people I am acquainted with live life courageously. It takes courage just to get out of bed and face the day in today's world. There is much to fear out there! Sickness, financial instability, harm to self and property, loss of loved ones to name just a few.
But in Psalms 23 and Psalms 27 we are promised if we walk with God we have nothing to fear. NOTHING! These are but two examples of where the courage we need to step out of our front door each morning comes from. The One who showed ultimate bravery on the cross for my sin, for your sin, gives each of us His courage in whatever measure we need it.
In the past five years, I have emerged from the flames of the unthinkable. I have been called brave, strong, and courageous. I am not! This woman is unsure, a worrier, a "but, what if…". Only by the power of Jesus, His strength and my part in His plan am I able to demonstrate courage.
Lord, during this Lenten Season I ask that you give your followers every measure of courage needed to be bold for you and to accomplish Your plan for our lives.
